Social relations play an important role in production and household economic development for Vietnamese farming households. Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province, is one of the localities with the highest urbanization and industrial area development rate in the country. However, the district's current orientation in livestock development is still increasing the number of animals in appropriate association with market demand, prioritizing the development of livestock that have the potential to create key commodity products in the province, such as pigs and poultry. This article highlights the current status of social relationships in pig farming among households in Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province, and the impacts of these relationships on households’ sustainable livestock development and local socioeconomic development in the context of industrialization and urbanization. Households’ social relationships in pig farming are expressed in the interactions among households, the livestock system, veterinarians, the market, and local authorities.
