In 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic and political changes in several countries, especially the US, were expected to be factors affecting world politics. In that context, the Indo-Pacific region continues to be the focus of global geopolitical competition with a series ofpolicy adjustments that countries have made towards their presence in the region. Relationships among power centers and key countries, such as the US-China relations, have not improved, even slipped in a more negative direction. In addition, armed conflict still occurred everywhere, from South Asia to the Middle East and Africa, while the nuclear issue of Iran and North Korea remained unresolved conflict. The rare positive sign of the world in the past year was the multilateral cooperation efforts in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic and responding to climate change.
