Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) was still the gold standard on management lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in patients with benign pros-tatic hyperplasia (BPH). The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of TURP on sexual function in patients with BPH. Subjects and methods: In this prospective study, we collected datas from 81 cases in total of 135 patients who underwent TURP from 55 from Jun 2021 to Dec 2022 at the Department of Urology and Andrology, 19-8 Hospital, Ministry of Public Security. Results: 60% of patients reported sexual activity before TURP, with 47% normal in erectile function. After-TURP, there were 37% normal EF. In patients with ED, there was significant improvement in IIEF-5 after TURP in comparison to the baseline (13,77 ± 2,07 and 15,58 ± 2,04, p = <0.001). There were no significant statistical differences in mean IIEF-15 and PEDT at baseline after TURP. Conclusions: The results confirmed that Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is an effective treatment for patients with BPH. There was a significant decrease in erectile function after TURP and has no significant negative influence on sexual function.
