The world system is an abstract concept, a product of human thinking. That system contains the roles and interactions of both state and non-state actors, along with international organizations (IGOs), multinational corporations (MNCs), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). In the modern world system, the structure of this system is composed of three elements: distribution of power, forms of relations, and mechanisms/institutions which reflect the common law that actors must respect. The political structure of the system represents the specific arrangement of actors in the system along the axis of power. That structure affects the choice and dominant relationship pattern among the subjects. However, general rules are also important in regulating relationships, keeping the system as stable as possible. By the systematic- structural approach, the article gives an overview of the current world system.
