Objectives: To investigate the situation and features of vitiligo at the National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology (NHDV). Material and methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study based on the data of 7,997 patients diagnosed vitiligo at the NHDV from Jan. 2007 to Dee. 2011. Result: For 5 years, there were 7,997 patients with vitiligo, accounting for 1.15 percent of all the patients with skin diseases. The disease occurred in all age groups but mainly from 0 to 40 years old (62 percent ), more frequently in women than men (women/men=3/2) and in the rural area than urban area (56 percent and 44 percent ). The number of patients increased in summer, especially in June, July and August. Conclusions: Vitiligo is a common skin disease, accounting for 1.15 percent of skin diseases at NHDV; the disease occurred more often in women than men and mainly in those less than 40 years old.
